Located in Boulder City, Nevada, the Boulder City Solar Project will produce enough electricity to power about 26,000 average homes, displacing approximately 123,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year—the equivalent of taking about 24,000 cars off the road. The project’s location was selected after an extensive review of environmental objectives, the available solar resource, proximity to existing electrical transmission lines, and existing land uses. Economic benefits include state and local tax revenues, green jobs for about 375 workers during construction estimated to last two years, and 12 jobs for ongoing monitoring and operation once the project is completed. It will also provide direct benefits to local businesses.
